last month, i shared that my team and i had been invited by MENDAKI to talk a little about our work under the auspices of MENDAKI the Learning Festival 2019.
my fellow presenters and i had a great time interacting with this morning's audience, with the Guest of Honour being Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, who - among other portfolios - has been the Minister for Communications and Information, Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs and Minister in charge of Cyber Security, Minister for Community Development and Sports, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, and Minister for the Information, Communications and the Arts, at various times in his long career.
at the end of the session, we were each presented with a freshly minted copy of Navigating Educational Development: MENDAKI and the Malays. This book was just published this year, and was written by Noor Aisha binte Abdul Rahman, and Idris bin Rashid Khan Surattee. Its foreword is contributed by Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for Social Policies, Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
the book charts the history of MENDAKI from its early inceptions in 1982, to its growth to more than ninety centres across Singapore today. i am finding it a fascinating read.
