now that i've got that cliché out of the way, here's another one:
the following is potentially the most game-changing application (in a pedagogical - not software - sense) for geography teachers - not just in Singapore but worldwide.
to me, this alone is worth the cost of purchasing the iPad.
for the longest time, i have been waiting for a way for geography students to have a sense of topographical variation (especially with respect to Singapore because it is often perceived to be an urbanised flat plain), at a scale comprehensible to their local environment (ie, at a handy scale).
now, thanks to the built-in Maps application on the iPad and its new Terrain view, not only do they have this facility, but it is also location-aware (and thus, dynamically updating).
