i'm just wondering if this is a step too far in trying to model realism.
to me, this just breaks one of the most powerful affordances of fictive worlds and virtual environments, namely that of the facilitation of what Gee terms the learner's projective identity with respect to the avatar.
in a sense, this is the conceptual opposite of what is known in filmography as 'breaking the fourth wall'.
after all, do the fish see the water?
