i took the opportunity of being in London, to watch the movie Flood.
i couldn't think of a more appropriate city to watch it in, and it was uncanny to see that one of the protagonists was also a faculty member at Imperial College, which just happens to be one of two venues for the RGS-IBG conference (the other being the premises of the Royal Geographical Society itself).
presently, Flood is not in widespread release in the cinemas - i watched it at the Apollo West End, which is quite the fancy cinema.
when i emerged from the cinema at the end of the movie, it took my brain a bit of time to adjust from the cinematic reality of a flooded London, to the exact same physical environment - this time totally dry and 'normal'.
here's an (official) take on the premise of the movie :-)
