i've been a bit quiet lately.
here's _one_ of the reasons why :-)
my new house at Imzadi... (here in the process of being lowered to sea-level)
designed by the supremely talented Nick Swamphen.
it's been a long wait, first for the house to be customised to my specifications, and then for both Nick and Wabisabi to have a free time-window for her to approve the change.
but it's all been worth it :-)
thank you, Nick!
:-)
oh, and check this out. apparently, Singaporeans ranked 23rd last month, according to the amount of time we spend in Second Life.
and now, on to something completely different :-P
okie, i know this might not exactly be news to some of you, but i find it fascinating nonetheless :-P
as an uncanny example of how Real Life echoes Second Life, over the same weekend that it was announced that the Queen Elizabeth 2 will become a floating hotel permanently berthed at the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai, from 2009, the largest single build in Second Life - the SS Galaxy, no less than 650 metres long and stretching her 15000 prims across three sims - had her Inaugural Cruise (to nowhere) :-)
the ship is moored 1.5 kilometres west of Spaceport Alpha. she is twice the length of the Queen Mary 2, and is captained by Seaton Skolnick. she boasts eight decks, sixteen single-suites, sixteen double-suites, six VIP suites, and two Captain's Suites.
... and you know what? at the time i'm posting this, there are only two suites unspoken for - namely, two of the three-level VIP suites. so get a move on, and we might just be neighbours :-P
The Galaxy's chief architect is Bill Stirling - he first had the idea two years' ago apparently - and is owned by Nova Straaf. Bill has been working round-the-clock on its construction over the past three to four months. her interior furnishings are modelled on the SS Normandie. Bill's handiwork needs to be seen to be believed.
be warned, though. if you try doing a Kate Winslett on the bow of the Galaxy, you risk falling into the water and being attacked by a savage fish of indeterminate species.
