the one-hundred-and-twelfth episode of ventriloquy previews two major projects in Second Life that i'm currently working on, as Veritas Raymaker.
i've decided to jump the gun in lifting the curtain for just a brief peek in this 2.1 MB download, because i wish to draw your attention to this paper - A Second Life for your museum: 3D multi-user virtual environments and museums - by Richard Urban and Michael Twidale (both at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) and Paul Marty at Florida State University.
here's a pic of my good friend Meroth Junge and i, working on one of the interactive exhibits that will be on display at one of the two learning installations i'm presently working on... rather, it's a pic of Meroth working, and i'm just passing inane comments :-)
in the background, you can see a working model of the Cape Hatteras lighthouse - the one in Real Life is found on the North Carolina coastline.
the perfect runabout to explore these waters must be the Shark, by Marlin Engineering (seen here in this promotional shot being piloted by someone whom i assume to be its designer - Jon Marlin).
whether consciously or no, the Shark (as did the Troy before it) draws its inspiration from Professor Calculus's submersible, which - for me, at least - makes it even more of a must-buy :-)
