okie... so now it's official.
Singapore is the most frenetically-paced urban environment in the world :-P
(with the possible exception of Hong Kong, which was inexplicably left out in Richard Wiseman's 'Pace of Life' study)
i'm having difficulty unearthing the specifics of the methodology (time of day, exactly which 18-metre-stretch of pavement, etc), but the city-rankings are interesting nonetheless. the other big factor to be considered would be prevailing microclimatic conditions, because i half-suspect the reason that Singaporeans walk so fast is to minimise our exposure to the stifling humidity :-)
umm... do we really walk three-times faster than residents of Blantyre?
(and if you're wondering about the title of this post, it refers to a troop-movement-command used in the Singapore Armed Forces, that you never actually want to hear, especially when kitted in full combat gear)
