the one-hundred-and-third episode of ventriloquy is a recording of the inaugural Royal Geographical Society (RGS) - National University of Singapore Department of Geography lecture.
the Vice-Chancellor of Warwick University - Professor Nigel Thrift - addressed us with a talk entitled 'Re-placed: Mapping new informational spaces'. In the talk, he spoke in broad terms about how Information and Communications Technologies and the New Digital Media (such as videogames) are changing the nature of space. He particularly focussed on how they allow emotion to be transmitted and the construction of new kinds of social organisation.
Professor Thrift was awarded the RGS Victoria Medal for his contributions to geographic research in 2003. In that same year, he was also made a Fellow of the British Academy.
