hmm.
in today's Straits Times, on page C24, the video game that my colleagues and i at the National Institute of Education's Learning Sciences Lab are working on is given brief mention as part of an article by Raymond Poon entitled 'Getting serious about games'.
the article starts by featuring an interview with Megan Elliott, who's one of the directors of X|Media|Lab, which bills itself as a "digital media think-tank and creative workshop".
it goes on to say that:
"In Singapore, the games industry is being given a mighty push by the government... as the fledgling industry grows, jobs like CG directors, animators, games designers and programmers will be in demand.
"These developments help set the foundation for making the leap from text-based to games-based learning. And one of the first subjects to be turned into a game is national education."
it then goes on to describe the game in two paragraphs.
:-)
tomorrow, the X|Media|Lab is organizing what it terms a Professional Day Conference at the 'Parkroyal on Coleman Street'. the theme of the conference is 'learning from games'.
will i see you there?
:-)
