exactly one month after my first year confirmation seminar, i have received the feedback on the revised case study (and additional three case studies).
john has drawn my attention to the possibility of using Diana Laurillard's 'conversational framework' as a way of analysing the discourse. her work has been primarily focussed on the discourse between teachers and learners at universities; specifically she has made the distinction between how students link theory with practice through meaningful dialogue with the teacher figure.
i think john may be on to something here, and i will give it a try.
next, i must try to make the curricular linkages more explicit.
someone suggested a comparison table between the two Little Guilin case studies, in terms of the landmarks used, and that i have a look at the stuff which Lily Kong has written about - i had not realised that Lily and i share similar research interests :-)
