this past week i have been busy with my grant application.
compared to the paperwork required for the actual doctoral application (filed about two months' ago), the grant application is thankfully more manageable. there are basically three documents to submit - the budget, the proposal summary, and the grant application itself. in addition, i have to attach quotations for the purchases (deployment server, handphones, software), as well as CVs of my two supervisors and myself, and letters of collaboration from the internet service provider (Starhub) and from the School of ICT, Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
finally, i also have had to find two referees to support the grant application. in this regard, i would like to express my sincere gratitude to Sengchee (as my internal referee) and to Assoc Prof Peggy Teo of the Geography Department, National University of Singapore (as my external referee).
especially considering the very short notice that i was obliged to give them, their magnanimity will not be forgotten.
i would also like to welcome Jason Wang to the team. Jason is a Final Year student in Multimedia Computing, from Ngee Ann Poly. his contribution to the project will be crucial, as he will be coding the WAPsites and writing the java games and quizzes, by which the pupils will learn more about the neighbourhoods that they will navigate around. i have much to learn from Jason, and look forward to working closely with him over the next year or so.
