the one-hundred-and-fifty-seventh episode of ventriloquy tells the story of EcoRangers® - the multi-player handheld game that is jointly developed by Jason Wang and myself.

today, more than four years after EcoRangers® made its debut, Jason and i received the wonderful news that we have finally been granted our patent!

it's P-No. 124317, granted by the Registry of Patents, Singapore, in accordance with Section 35 of the Patents Act.

it may have taken two-and-a-half-years, but - by the grace of God - we received the Examination Report for EcoRangers® today :-)

six months after filing the Request for Search Report for EcoRangers®, the Singapore Patents Registry has given us the wonderful news that the Cited Documents are of the 'A' category; that is to say, it is a good indication that EcoRangers® is indeed patentable.

EcoRangers® at RINC 2005

the twenty-seventh episode of ventriloquy is a recording of my presentation today at the Regional Industrial Networking conference, held at the Singapore Polytechnic. i gave a short talk about EcoRangers®, which was developed jointly by Jason Wang and myself.

my presentation was in the Mobile Learning in Education track. i am introduced by the session chair - Paul Gagnon. he's the Senior Deputy Director at the Centre for Educational Development, at the Nanyang Technological University. i'd also like to thank my colleague - Edmund Lim - for facilitating the invitation to share, in the first place.

EcoRangers® in 'Educational Media International'

more than a year after EcoRangers® made its debut as the world's first educational game designed specifically for mobile phones, it is still making the news :-)

this time, as a follow-on from its presentation at the International Conference on Education Technology last year, i've just been given the wonderful news that the December 2005 issue of the journal 'Educational Media International' (Vol 42, No 4) will be carrying the article that Jason and i co-wrote, entitled 'collaborative handheld gaming in education'.

EcoRangers® - results of the Formalities Examination Report

thanks be to God, our patent application for EcoRangers® has been deemed by the Singapore Registrar of Patents to have satisfied the formal requirements of the Patents Act and Rules.

this clears the application for its next step, which is to file the Request for Search Report.
